Do I need OpenClaw to use Pane?
No. Pane runs on an Anthropic, OpenRouter, or Ollama key on its own. OpenClaw users get the extra path: pair the local Gateway and the agent you already have moves in, memory and identity intact.
What is the optimal setup of Pane and OpenClaw?
The optimal setup is two machines. Pane, hosted on a user machine, pairs with an OpenClaw gateway running on its own machine. This is a deliberate security boundary because OpenClaw has root access to the machine it runs on.
Where does my data live?
Your working data lives on your machine: a SQLite database and flat files you can open yourself. For upcoming shared projects, Pane syncs an encrypted copy to our servers. Encrypted before it leaves, readable only by you.
Which platforms are supported?
macOS and Linux today, as a native desktop app. Windows is not supported yet. Mobile is on the roadmap.
What can the agent actually control?
Notes, tasks, projects, folders: everything you can do in Pane, your agent can do too. It also saves memories, reads them back, and searches your entire workspace to find what it needs.
